Who I walk with

The climb, in three steps
The first sessions are careful listening — history, context, and where the strain actually began. For a child, this includes parents; for a couple, both voices.
Together we name the pattern out loud — the trigger, the thought, the reaction. Where helpful, validated psychometric assessments add real clarity, not guesswork.
CBT, DBT or ACT skills, fitted to age and life, rehearsed between sessions. Progress is measured in ordinary days that get easier — not in jargon.
The clinic
A dedicated mental-health clinic in the heart of Noida, designed to feel nothing like a hospital queue — a waiting space you wouldn't mind sitting in, and rooms where a child can be a child. Consultations run in person, over video, or by phone.
In their words
“The first session felt like being handed a map after months of wandering in the dark.”
“We came in barely speaking to our son. We left with words that worked.”

About
Clinical psychologist, family counselor, trainer — and a firm believer that good therapy is structured, warm, and measurable.
Dr. Aprajita Khanna is an RCI-registered clinical psychologist, counseling psychologist and family counselor with a doctorate in psychology. She is the founder and director of Aarohan Mental Health Clinic in Sector 31, Noida, where she leads a practice built around one idea: mental-health care for children, adolescents, adults and families should be both evidence-based and deeply human.
Her clinical work draws on structured, research-backed methods — cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT) — alongside formal psychometric assessment for children and adults. She is known in particular for her work in child and adolescent mental health, psychotherapy and family counselling.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Khanna serves as a consultant clinical psychologist with The Richmond Fellowship Society (India) in Delhi, and trains fellow professionals — her workshops for psychologists and educators come with structured toolkits and scoring manuals. Aarohan, fittingly, is a Hindi word: the ascent.

Approach
Dr. Khanna's practice is built on therapies with a research base — chosen and fitted to the person in the room, never the other way round.
The most widely researched talk therapy. You learn to catch the thought patterns that fuel distress, test them against reality, and rehearse healthier responses — with homework, charts and visible progress. Especially effective for anxiety, low mood and exam stress.
Skills for storms: emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and steadier relationships. DBT teaches that two things can be true at once — you accept yourself and you work to change. Structured modules make the skills learnable and concrete.
Rather than fighting difficult feelings, ACT builds the capacity to hold them while moving toward what you actually value. Clients leave with a compass, not just comfort — a direction for the days when motivation runs dry.
Standardised, validated testing — for IQ and learning profiles, ADHD, personality and clinical symptom scales. Dr. Khanna is a certified psychometrician; reports are written to be understood by parents and schools, not just clinicians.
Everything shared in session is confidential within the limits Indian law requires — discussed plainly at the start, including how teen privacy works with parents.
Services
Pick the footing you're starting from — the page reshapes around it.
Early struggles rarely announce themselves in words — they show up as tummy aches, meltdowns, refusal and suddenly-faded smiles.
Tantrums, aggression, school refusal and fears — worked through at a child's pace, with play and drawing as language.
Psychometric testing for learning, attention and development — reports parents and schools can act on.
Structured sessions where parents learn what the behaviour is saying, and what to do before the next storm.
Bullying, adjustment, and the quiet social anxieties that follow a child home from school.
Adolescence rewards adults who listen without flinching. Sessions are private, paced, and never a report card home.
Board years, competitive exams and the anxiety that arrives with them — CBT-based, practical, finite.
Self-worth, body image, and the question of who they're becoming — held without judgment.
Boundaries that survive contact with real teenage life, built together rather than imposed.
Joint sessions for homes where every conversation ends in a slammed door.
High-functioning on the outside, quietly worn on the inside. Adult therapy here is structured, not open-ended drifting.
The racing mind, the avoided calls, the 3 a.m. thinking — mapped and systematically retired.
When the tank stays empty: behavioural activation and values work to rebuild traction.
The same argument, the same ache, the next partner — patterns named and re-written.
Concrete skills for anger, impulsivity and emotional storms — module by module.
A family is a system — when one strand pulls, everyone feels it. Sessions work on the weave, not just one thread.
Structured sessions where every voice is heard — including the smallest ones.
Communication that has frayed, conflict that loops — rebuilt with evidence-based tools.
ADHD, autism, learning differences — support that helps the whole household adapt.
Space for the complex, loving, exhausting arithmetic of modern Indian households.

Questions
Consultations are listed at ₹2,500 on Practo ↗. Fees are confirmed at the time of booking and may differ for assessments or multi-session family work.
Sessions typically run 45–60 minutes confirm duration. A shared plan after the first session sets a realistic count — CBT for a specific anxiety often takes 8–16 sessions, while assessment has its own schedule.
Parents receive the themes and the plan, while the child's private words stay private — a balance explained to both the child and the parents up front. Safety concerns are never kept from a parent.
For most adult and teen therapy, yes — the evidence for teletherapy is solid. For young children and formal assessments, in-person sessions at Sector 31 are strongly preferred.
The Rehabilitation Council of India maintains the national register of qualified clinical psychologists. Registration means verified training, a code of ethics, and accountability — a floor every family deserves.
